HARDGAINERS TIP 1 of 10
By John Quint
Tip 1 Exercise Selection:
Keep it simple, pick a compound exercise for each body part, and try to perfect that movement. Once you are able to do that exercise, then pick another compound exercise for that same muscle group and try to master that.
Before you know it, you will have a repertoire of exercises that you can rotate in and out to prevent you from hitting a plateau. For these compound exercises, you will want to vary your reps and poundage. A good rep range for bodybuilding would be from 6 to 8 repetitions with anywhere from 4 to 6 sets.
Realistically, any more than 6 sets is overkill because of how taxing these exercises are on the muscle and central nervous system, so now would be the time to move onto your auxiliary exercises. For a complete list of the compound exercises for each body part, check out the article entitled “Compound Exercises” in our members section.
I will continue to share with you some tips that I hope and believe will add to your success and goal of putting muscle on. Check back next week for tip 2.
